We are all busy. Perhaps the thought of using a new social media platform, joining another Facebook group or taking time out of your busy weekend to visit a group feels like one thing too many. We’ve all been there! However, we believe that you’ll get back far more than you put in when you connect with other Incredible Edible groups. Plus, in the end it will probably save you time because you’ll get some great ideas and you’ll get to speak to some other Incredible people in the process.
We asked some people who’ve connected with other Incredible Edible groups for what they got out of making these new connections, and here’s what they come up with:
the Incredible Edible Network website is great to get some hints and tips, but visiting a group allows you to have some really interesting conversations, to ask questions and to learn about what other groups have done. It’s really useful to see in action examples of how other groups do things, for example, learning about what signage works where for another group.
meeting people in person allows you to put faces to names so you’re more comfortable getting in touch online or on the phone in the future. You start building those relationships which means it’s a lot easier to ask a question or just to reach out to hear from someone else who’s involved in Incredible things.
spinning the three plates is what makes us Incredible. And connecting with other groups allows you to sharing how your groups put the Incredible Edible philosophy into action. If you’ve done some wonderful activities allowing young people to learn about food growing and bug hotels, you can share this with another group who have some great ideas about engaging with local businesses to encourage them to be Incredible too.
You might be having a tough time, maybe the council have said you can’t grow on that bit of land you had your eye on. After all those meetings and discussions, it’s back to the drawing board. Don’t worry, there’ll be someone out there who’s been there, done that and bounced back with a bigger and better idea for a growing site. Connecting with others allows you to be motivated and inspired by what other people have achieved – and gives you a chance to motivate and inspire others with what you’ve achieved too!

Incredible Edible is a movement. You are part of one group of over 100 in the UK and over a 1,000 world-wide. By connecting with other groups you can develop your sense of belonging to something bigger, to that movement which is finding new ways to spin the three plates to help people live happy, healthy and prosperous lives, wherever you are in the world.

Alternatively, seek out another group in your area which does something you’re keen to learn about and suggest an exchange visit so you can share and learn with each other – who knows what new ideas you could come up with?
